Happy International Women’s Day

Today we celebrate women’s achievements, amplify women’s voices, and shine a light on the issues that matter most to women’s health and wellbeing. So let me bring one to the table that rarely gets the attention it deserves: posture.

It sounds simple. Almost too simple. But hear me out.

Women are disproportionately affected by the long-term consequences of poor posture. Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause accelerate bone density loss, making the spine more vulnerable over time. Osteoporosis affects women at significantly higher rates than men. And conditions like TMJ disorders, which are closely linked to postural misalignment, are also far more prevalent in women.

Add to that the reality of modern life: long hours at desks, endless scrolling, carrying children, carrying stress, carrying everything, and it becomes clear that poor posture is not a vanity issue. It is a women’s health issue.

And yet it is almost never part of the conversation.

When posture suffers, so does breathing, energy, confidence, and physical comfort. These are not small things. They shape how we show up every single day, at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

This International Women’s Day, I want to encourage every woman to pay attention to how she holds herself, not as a matter of appearance, but as an act of self-care and self-respect. You deserve to feel strong, aligned, and at ease in your own body.

What is one small thing you do to take care of your body and wellbeing? I would love to hear from you in the comments.
